Dividend Dogs Rule
The "dog" moniker was earned by stocks exhibiting three traits: (1) paying reliable, repeating dividends, (2) their prices fell to where (3) yield (dividend/price) grew higher than their peers. Thus, the highest yielding stocks in any collection became known as "dogs."
Finding Sector Leaders
Eleven Morningstar business sectors in (alpha order) were: basic materials, communication services, consumer cyclicals, consumer defensive, energy, financial services, healthcare, industrials, real estate, technology, and utilities. Yield (dividend / price) results from here verified by Yahoo Finance for sector leading stocks as of market closing prices July 13 revealed the actionable conclusions enumerated below.
